Ines Butz earned her Master’s degree in Physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) in 2018. After analyzing 3D deformation processes from 2D X-ray videos of car crash experiments at the Fraunhofer Institute for High-Speed Dynamics (Ernst-Mach-Institut) until 2022, she transitioned to medical imaging and surgical tracking as a research assistant at the I-STAR Lab at Johns Hopkins University. During her PhD at the LMU Chair of Medical Physics (2022-2026), she investigated conventional and deep learning-based methods to improve relative stopping power calibration in proton therapy treatment planning using proton radiography. She is currently part of the KI-ROBUST project at the LMU ART Lab, where she develops uncertainty-aware deep learning models for auto-segmentation.
